AC1 Construction has landed its first main contractor job in Liverpool following the launch of its new Major Projects Division.

The deal will see AC1 build a 202-bed £19m student accommodation scheme for Blacklight Capital Partners.

The family-owned firm has been in business since 2010 starting-out as a a dry lining subcontractor and labour agency in London.

Sustained growth has seen AC1 evolve into a £23m turnover fit-out contractor now operating a Major Projects Division operating from Manchester city centre.

Shane Kelly, Director of Major Projects at AC1 Construction, said: “I’m excited about the future and the value our team can bring to the market.

“Our self-delivery model, covering approximately 80% of all works and supported by long-standing supply chain partners, provides clients with reduced risk, improved cost control, and programme certainty. Securing this project is a fantastic end to a challenging year, and we look forward to delivering it in the new year.”

Gheorghe Ghergheluca, Managing Director at AC1 Construction added: “The launch of the Major Projects Division, alongside securing our first scheme, represents a natural progression for AC1.

“Our growth has been built on trust, transparency, and operational excellence. With Shane and his team now in place, we are positioned to take on larger and more ambitious projects across the country.”

Adrian Craciun, Chief Executive Officer of AC1 Construction, said: “This is a pivotal moment for AC1. The new division enhances our delivery capability while remaining aligned with our core values.

“With a highly experienced team and our proven self-delivery model, we offer something genuinely distinctive – a contractor that is agile, accountable, and focused on quality and certainty.”
